Elijah

Elijah finally got in for his 18 month well check appointment. Between us having the stomach flu, me being down, and his Dr. being out of town, we got him in 2 months later. I could've gotten him in along time ago, but really wanted to see his Dr. and not someone else. But anyway, I'm glad I waited too. She is awesome! Here's what we learned about Elijah....

He is 20 months old.
Weighs 28.2 lbs. 68th percentile
Height is 35 in. 97th percentile
Head is 20 inches HUGE!
-He has allergies really bad and taking Claritan for it.
-I thought I was over feeding him because he loves to eat. If I let him, he'll eat 3 pancakes, a banana, and 2 sausages for breakfast. She said it was ok because his metabolism burns it off like crazy because he's not gaining a lot of weight or anything. But as soon as he starts gaining a lot of weight, we need to cut down his diet. Phew!
-Concerning his front 2 teeth that are broken. She said that she knows of a Dentist that has privileges at Kaiser. Of course our insurance doesn't cover him... but if Kaiser paid for the anesthesia, and we paid for the dental work, we could probably save about $500.00. So it's something I'm going to look into this week. Finger's crossed!
-His speech. She was really concerned about the fact that he only says mama and nothing else. He makes sounds of course, even in his sleep. But he just can't talk. What he does is snort. Seriously, he snorts, through his nose! And while he's snorting, he'll point and what he wants. He definitely gets him point across as to what he wants and what he's wanting to say. But I'm not too worried about it. Jason didn't talk until he was 4. And so far, Elijah is taking after him in every other way, so I figure it's the same with his speech. But, Dr. G wants to do an evaluation with a specialist. So we'll see how that goes. But I'm seriously not worried about it. If he was 3 or 4, I would be. But I think they all just develop within their own time.
Elijah is a funny little kid. He's pretty quiet and just kinda sits and watches people. Yet, he is very active though and is a daredevil and climber. He knows how to stand up for himself too now. We're so thankful to have this lil guy a part of our family. Here's a few pics of Elijah...
He currently doesn't use his crib and sleeps with us at night. We'll be getting him and Isaiah a bunk bed as soon as we know where we're going to be living in a month. Poor little guy falls asleep anywhere and everywhere though... here are a few places.

And here he is eating grapes in the living room and totally ignoring me asking him where he's supposed to be eating the grapes. He thinks he's so sly. :-)

Elijah loves wearing shoes! Here he is wearing mine and he's acting like he's mad at me because I asked him to stand still so I could take the picture.
