Christmas 2012

Christmas came and went so fast! I'll be honest... I was out of it this season. With having Uriah in November and trying to recoop and adjust to a new baby. And my calling at church and trying to figure it all out. I was out of it during the month of December. But, we still had fun! I tried to focus more on the true meaning of Christmas, but found that I was just trying to survive day to day and wasn't able to serve others and think about others like I normally do. Oh well, it's all good!

So, my parents usually have a Christmas Eve program.  We haven't been for a few years because the driving up on Christmas Eve and then coming home and then driving back the next morning just became too much for our growing family... and for Jason and me. They decided to do it on Sunday instead of Christmas Eve, so we were able to go up. Here are a few pictures from it.....

Uriah is always pulling some weird face when I pull the camera out. But this is a beautiful picture of Shelby!
Growing up, we always got together with my relatives in the area... the Larsen's and the Meyer's. The Larsen's aren't around anymore, but the Meyer's are and they were able to come. It was sooo fun having them around! I miss my cousins!

Here's the group while my dad is reading the story of our Savior's birth! I love my family!

Christmas Eve consisted of us running around trying to get things done and delivering chocolates to some friends and looking at Christmas lights and then the kids went to bed. I had most of the wrapping done. But apparently Uriah didn't want me to finish up. Jason helped, but isn't an super fast wrapper like I am. And Ezra was up... so Jason took him upstairs while I finished up and didn't get to bed til 1:30am.

Isaiah woke up at 4am and woke the other kids up too! Doh! I told them that we are not opening anything until 6:30am.  Well, I got up at 6am and the kids were all ready to go. Ezra was the only one still asleep out of the kids. Jason had a tough time getting up, but finally did at 6:30am. The kids finally opened their presents. I felt bad because the older kids got more, naturally, because they needed clothes. Elijah didn't get clothes... so he had less to open. He was tired and bummed that he didn't have more to open, since the older kids were still opening theirs. And it didn't help that I lost one of his most important presents... a Skylander. He quickly got over it when they started playing their video games. Then it was time to get Ezra up... it was hilarious see him.

Ezra loved his guitar

Uriah's First Christmas... he slept right through the morning!

Usually we get ready right away and go up to Oroville. This year, I had Jason take a nap first, so he'd be happy throughout the day :-) and I wanted the kids to be able to play with their toys a little bit before we left. So we finally left here around 10am. And went to my parents house first. My mom always make a delicious Christmas morning breakfast. It was fun hanging out there and opening presents! I didn't take any pictures really, just took video but it won't download on here today.

After my parents, at about 2pm, we headed over to the McOmber's. The kids opened presents and we hung out and ate dinner. I would take more pictures and video in the McOmber household, but when I do, adults seem to leave the room. So I just don't pull out the camera. It was so nice hanging out though and spending time with family.

After the McOmber's, we headed over to my Grandma's house. My Grandma Meyer is my last living Grandparent. She is going to be 89 years old in a month.  And she is seriously the most wise and wonderful person! She has a hard time with her health, but she doesn't give up and spent so much time trying to get things for the kids. It was so nice of her. We love hanging out with her and having her here with us still. I'm thankful our children can know her and have her a part of their lives.
