Our Birthdays (a few months late)

March 10th 2013
My mom and dad had a birthday dinner for us Sunday evening. Little did my siblings know, that the dinner was to celebrate our birthdays and not to just get together.... oops! I love my family, but I'm too tired Sunday evenings to just go to Oroville for the heck of it. It was so nice of my parents though to make dinner for us all and do cake and ice cream for us. Of course I couldn't eat most of it... but it was still nice!

I usually try to do something special and nice for Jason before he gets up. Didn't happen this year. No birthday table cloth, no balloons, no special breakfast drink, no card, no nothing.  Got the kids ready and out the door and let Jason sleep in. When he got up at 9am, he went straight outside and started mowing the backyard jungle. I tried to stay out there for awhile, cause I know it's what he likes.  He likes me around when he's doing a project.  I enjoy it too, but when I have stuff to do, it drives me crazy just sitting there watching him.  It took him 2 hours to get through the weeds with my dad's nifty weed mower. And he was on his last bit at the back fence when I heard a huge bang sound!  I was on the back porch and looked around, not knowing what it was, and saw something on the sliding glass door. As I got closer, I realized the glass was shattered and cracked! I saw where the crack began and looked at the floor and saw a small little rock! It had shot across the yard from where Jason was mowing and hit the slider! I was screaming and waving my arms at Jason and he stopped to see what was going on.  We just couldn't believe it! So he taped the whole thing with painters tape and for the rest of the day, we kept hearing cracking noises. It was just crazy! We were so thankful that it didn't hit one of the kids or me.  But, it's going to cost stinkin' $400.00 to fix! UGH!  But anyway, when Jason was done with the yard, he came in and went up stairs by himself for a few hours. Sometimes us adults just need some alone time. And since it was his birthday, I wasn't going to nag him about anything and just let him do what he wanted. Then that night, some friends of ours baked us a cake, and came over and hung out for a little bit.

Jason took the day off for my birthday.  I don't like it when he does things like that.  Since he was home, I thought I had better take advantage of having him home.  So I cleaned literally all day long while he tried to take care of Uriah. Jason attempted to make it a nice day for me. He wanted to make breakfast for me and tried to make a breakfast shake. I kept telling him not too, but did and sure enough, I couldn't drink it because my teeth are too sensitive to the cold. He was so tired from all the yard work from the day before, he took many naps. Uriah cried a lot of the day. A good friend of mine brightened my day by bringing me flowers though! And then I worked and worked and took care of Uriah and kinda let the other kids just run and play. That night, a bunch of youth came over to do service for us. When I was asked if they could, I didn't really want them too, but thought, no they need to learn to serve others. So i let them come over. They raked the weeds in the back yard. Pulled weeds in the front. Did some cleaning on the inside of the house. Came in and sang Happy Birthday to me. And they were done. I was exhausted by the end of the day and was so glad that I didn't have to celebrate another birthday for another 365 days! Birthdays for me are always too much work!

The McOmber's came over to celebrate our birthdays and Steve rototilled the backyard and the rest of the family hung out with us and watched the kids' last basketball games. Lauren bought Chinese food for everyone. And she also held Uriah all day long! It was a nice break for me!

So that was our 2013 Birthdays! Definitely an eventful one!
