Valentine's Day 2014

Maci made us a Valentine and hung it on the wall for us. I love how considerate our children are!
Today is Valentine's Day. I haven't updated our blog in months.  Hoping to catch up soon, but until then... I'll just post our day so far.  Last night I had all of these grandiose ideas about what was going to happen today. I went to our RS activity and came home by 9pm and the kids were still up. Ugh! So I sent them off to bed and Ezra had just woken up from a nap. Doh! So I was up with Ezra until 12:30am and was finally too tired to stay up any longer. We went to bed, awoke at 1:30am to child #4 coughing and then 3am to him coughing again. At 6:30am this morning, I knew I had to get up.  I forced myself to get up and made the kids breakfast.  We're a cereal family... so pancakes, bacon, and sausage for breakfast is HUGE! The table was decorated and the kids were so excited and happy.  It was a nice morning with no children fighting or talking back to me. Loved it!

As soon as I got the kids off to school, Jason rolled out of bed and after his sleepless night, I knew we were both going to be toast today.  But he said that he had a surprise for me and got the boys ready for the day. My friend was dropping her son off to hang out for part of the day so as soon as he got here, we took off.  He told me we were going out for breakfast.... which I was excited about since it's been a year since I've gone to any non-fast food place.  We went to this little place in Olivehurst called Duke's Diner.  Our friend's parents own it and I've always wanted to try it.  And it was delish! The boys were actually pretty good... considering the fact that we NEVER go out to eat. After a wonderful breakfast, we headed home.

The boys were playing, so I took off down the street to pick up some garbage at our runner's park, that some inconsiderate punk kids vandalized. This is only a little bit of the mess.  They broke the lock to the garbage can and scattered garbage (mainly dog poop bags and vodka bottles) all over the place!  It was seriously disgusting!

After picking it up, I came home and tried to get dishes done and played with the boys.  Then I ordered some pizza for my Grandma and talked with her on the phone for awhile.  After that, I was able to to sit down for a moment and talk to my good friend Marinda that moved to Arkansas. Its 4pm and the house is still a mess... and I'm just too tired to deal with it.  So I'm going to treat myself to just hanging out today and I'll clean tomorrow. I think for dinner we'll have some pizza and I'll go to bed early tonight.  I am very thankful for my husband though.  Growing up, I never liked Valentine's Day.  But when I was a teenager and realized that I needed to change my attitude about it... I enjoyed it a lot more.  To me, Valentine's Day isn't all about having a significant other to celebrate with.  But to celebrate all the people we love.  Family, Friends, Neighbors, Co-workers, ect. I had so many plans for today, to show the people around me how thankful I am for them.  But since I'm kinda a zombie right now, I guess that's not going to happen. :-(  No cookie making & delivery, no valentine's delivered to friends & family, no energy to attend a Valentine's party that we were invited too tonight, and I'm hoping to still be able to talk to one of my best friend's Joalea, since today is her birthday!  But it's all good.  I am so thankful for my husband, my children, my family and all of my friends! Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays now due to the awesome people surrounding me!
