Rabbit Saturday

So this year I wanted to try something different. We decided to have the Easter Bunny come Friday night instead of Saturday night. The reasons why we did this...
1. We were going to Oroville sunday morning and leaving PL by 8am. So I thought there was no way we'd get up and do the basket thing and make it to 9am church in Oroville.
2. We didn't want the kids being all hopped up on sugar on sunday while we were trying to attend church and see the family. Making them sit through 3 hours of church while on a sugar high is almost impossible.
3. We wanted the kids to realize the difference between the Easter Bunny and the real reason why we celebrate Easter. WE wanted to still have fun and create memories of baskets and candy and eggs, but not on the day of our Savior's Resurrection.
4. We wanted to also try to make Easter last. It seems like it comes and goes so quickly, that we aren't able to just enjoy it.
Soooo.... it actually worked out really well. The kids got up saturday morning and found their baskets and instantly starting eating all of the candy. Then at about 9am... Jason's dad and brother came down with the rototiller to help us start our preparing for our garden. A few hours later, Jason's mom and sister came down to hang out as well. We were able to spend a drama free, happy, peaceful saturday afternoon together. Jason made lunch for us all too. I love that he can cook! We had a blast together and I was so thankful that they came down.
Some of our Easter Basket Traditions are....
- The Easter Bunny hides the baskets and the kids have to wait for mommy and daddy to get up and then they search for them.
- Our Easter Bunny doesn't use Easter grass in the baskets. He uses my dish towels. Yes, sounds weird. But it's so less messy and that's how we did it growing up.
- The kids don't get a ton of Easter candy because they usually get a small toy with their baskets as well.
- The Easter Bunny was very disappointed because he couldn't find any Cadburry eggs this year. That's a big tradition for me because the kids don't like them and give them all to me. hahaha...

Tim and Steve preparing our little garden area! We haven't planted it yet because its still so cold at night. But we will within the next few weeks.

Aunt Carey and Elijah. Aunt Carey made the cutest little Easter Bags filled with goodies for the kids. She's so creative!

Grandma and the kids going through their Easter bags.

Here we are sitting together as a family.... I don't remember the last time we were all able to sit together as a family at the table. We're missing Brooklynn, Baylee, Danny, and Lee though. My dream table would be a table big enough to fit all of the family!
